The Kittitas Environmental Education Network (KEEN) is hosting the 2018 Yakima River Canyon Bird Fest on May 11-13. The Bird Fest offers expert led field trips, vendors, extended field trips, lectures, keynote speakers, social events with music, and plenty of bird watching. Yakima River Canyon Bird Fest will run concurrently with KEENís 19th Annual Get Intimate with the Shrub Steppe event. Running these two events concurrently will allow birders the opportunity to learn about wildflowers, geology, keystone species like Bighorn sheep and endangered salmon. There will be events at several different sites in the greater Ellensburg area. Several hundred people are expected to attend. Event Headquarters is at Helen McCabe State Park, 24398 Canyon Rd, Ellensburg, WA 98926 (5 miles south of Ellensburg at the northern mouth of the Yakima River Canyon Scenic Byway).
