Yakima Valley SunDome

Constructed in 1989, the Yakima Valley SunDome is one of the most flexible multi-purpose facilities in existence. In its history, the SunDome has hosted a multitude of events, including CBA regular season and All-Star games, NBA exhibition games, and High School basketball and volleyball state championships. The facility has also played host to rodeos, MMA, monster trucks and motorcycle events.

Renovated in 2002, the SunDome now offers ten locker rooms, meeting space and additional seating. The facility will seat over 7,000 fans for a basketball game played with one court. For high school state tournaments, two courts are placed end-to-end with a curtain separating them. The two-court configuration allows access for approximately 6,200 spectators. For volleyball, the SunDome can host tournaments with between 3 and 8 courts. The SunDome offers great viewing with spectators very close to the action.

The SunDome has hosted state basketball tournaments since 1999. The facility has hosted two tournaments per year since 2001, and three tournaments since 2009. The Yakima Valley SunDome can be rented by promoters who wish to stage basketball games and other events.

Thirteen grass and four sports turf full-sized fields for soccer, lacrosse, ultimate Frisbee and more. 13,500 square foot multi-purpose building for sports practices, meetings and special events.

Constructed in 1993, the facility is used for high school regional and state baseball tournaments as well as other special events.

Yakima County Stadium is located at State Fair Park. It can be rented for baseball tournaments or other special events. For more information, please contact the Yakima Valley Pippins.

Parker-Faller Field

Located on the campus of Yakima Valley Community College, Parker-Faller Field is home to the YVCC Yaks and the Yakima Beetles American Legion Baseball team. The facility has hosted numerous high school district, regional, and state tournaments. It has also hosted the American Legion World Series. American Legion state and regional tournaments have also been played there.

Wood Field at Carlon Park is the home field of the Selah Vikings high school team and the Yakima Valley Pepsi American Legion Baseball team. A facility that is meticulously maintained, Wood Field has hosted a variety of high school and American Legion tournaments.

Opened in the early 2000's, McGonagle Park is a state-of-the-art Little League complex in Selah. The meticulously maintained facility is home to the Selah National Little League and regional little league tournaments. McGonagle Park consists of four fields with permanent fences, dugouts, and electronic scoreboards on each. Batting cages are available for practice as well.

Elks Park Little League Complex

Located in Yakima, Elks Park features up to six little league fields, four of which are used primarily. The four primary fields feature electronic scoreboards, while all six feature dugouts and bleacher seating. Elks Park also features 26 horseshoe pits for competitions. The facility includes a playground and new bathrooms, which opened in 2009. Elks Park is the home facility for the Yakima National Little League and several regional little league tournaments.

Eisenhower High School Gym

Eisenhower boasts the largest gym of any of the local high schools. The facility seats approximately 3,500 people. In addition to hosting the Eisenhower Cadets boys and girls basketball teams, the volleyball team and the school wrestling team, the Ike Gym is frequently utilized for high school playoff games. The gym also hosted the Harlem Globetrotters, Team USA Volleyball exhibition, international AAU games and high school all-star games.

The Eisenhower gym can be rented by promoters and private parties as long as the user adheres to school district guidelines.

West Valley High School Gym

Located in the Yakima Valley's newest high school, the West Valley High School gym was completed in 2009. As the second-largest gym in the valley, the gym has seating for up to 2,200 fans on all four sides of the facility. With the addition of the new gym, the West Valley School District now has three gyms available for High School basketball, volleyball, and wrestling.

Sherar Gym at YVCC

Home to the Yakima Valley Community College Yaks men's and women's sports teams, Sherar Gym underwent some renovation in 2009. New seating was installed on both sides of the gym. The capacity remains at approximately 1,500 for the facility, but the new seating promises to be more comfortable for fans.

Sherar Gym has hosted high school basketball, graduations, and a variety of special events through the years. The facility can be rented by promoters for private parties as long as the user complies with school policies and guidelines.

Nob Hill Lanes

Yakima's most modern bowling center offers 16 lanes with automatic scoring. Nob Hill Lanes also has a pro shop and a restaurant.

Attached to the bowling center is Nob Hill Casino. Primarily a card room, the casino features Blackjack, Spanish 21, Texas Shootout, Fortune Pai Gow, 3 card poker & Let It Ride.

Nob Hill Lanes can be rented on an hourly basis or by the day for tournaments. Standard hours of operation are: Sunday-Thursday 11:00 AM-11:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM.

The facility can be rented by the hour or the day for tournaments and special events.

Cycling

Your Canyon for a Day

Presented by Yakima County Crime Stoppers, this ride travels through the scenic Yakima River Canyon on the old Canyon Highway. The road is closed to through traffic for the day, making for a more relaxed outing for those tackling the 17.5 mile loop that covers 35 miles round trip. With the starting point near Roza Dam, the climbs are very manageable. This supported ride is a good family event, allowing riders of all ages and experience levels to be successful. The ride is held the third weekend in May.

An upscale public course, Apple Tree Golf Course is an experience a true golf enthusiast won't want to miss.

This par 72 course blends ponds, streams, sand, hills, trees and large greens to create a challenging and inviting round of golf. A cart is recommended, as it is a significant hike from green to tee on several holes.

Apple Tree is best known for its signature hole, the 17th which features the apple island green. The look of the course is changing with the development of condos and homes on the back nine.

Apple Tree can be rented for tournaments or private parties.

This public course is located eight miles West of Yakima off Highway 12. An eighteen-hole par 70 course, Suntides is fairly flat and very well maintained. The course is open daily from dawn until dusk. Suntides can be rented for tournaments and private events.

Mt. Adams Golf Course

Located just outside Toppenish (about 25 miles from Yakima), the course provides breath-taking views of Mt. Adams. This semi-private club offers a challenging 18-hole, par 72, 6,261 yard course. Tight fairways reward those who can hit it straight.

River Ridge Golf Course

Located near the Yakima Elks Course outside Selah, River Ridge is a nine-hole course that opened in 2003. The par 31 course covers approximately 2,186 yards. The course includes a four-acre lake with bridges blended into the design to protect the natural habitat. Can be rented.

The 9-hole course at Fisher Park Golf Course facility in Yakima, Washington features 1,354 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par 27. Fisher Park golf course opened in 1960.


Yakima Elks Golf & Country Club

This private club claims that this is the oldest course in the State of Washington. The fairways are somewhat open, but they are all tree lined. The greens are flat, small, and medium speed. There is water that comes into play on four holes, and there are some sand bunkers positioned throughout the course. The signature hole, nicknamed "Lake Grabenstien" is #14, a 452-yard, par 4, which requires a tee shot over water to the fairway. The ladies' tee also has a men's course rating of 67.2 and slope of 113. They have a reciprocal guest policy and have a collared shirt, no cut-offs, denim OK dress code.

Yakima's newest and most up-to-date skate park opened to the public in November 2008. Designed by Grindline Skateparks, Inc., the 8,800-square-foot layout is located under towering 50-year-old trees.

Selah Skate Park

The Selah Skate Park is continuing to grow, as construction of a new half pipe "C" wall is underway. The skate park is located near the tennis courts on South Wenas Road and Carlon Park. The newly opened park was built by the Selah Skate Park Association and the City of Selah to provide more leisure activities for the community's youth. In 2009 Selah Parks and Recreation introduced skateboard lessons for boys and girl ages 6-12. For a onetime fee these lessons provided an hour of instruction bi-weekly. The park is open for the public until dusk daily.

Carlon Park Complex

This newly remodeled complex features four girls tournament-quality fastpitch fields with permanent 200 foot fences. The City of Selah in cooperation with the Greater Yakima Girls Softball Association funded the $1.3 million renovation of this complex, which opened in May 2006.

This complex, owned by the city of Yakima, can host everything from youth baseball to fastpitch or slowpitch softball. There are four state of the art fields.

Lion's Pool is an indoor 25 yard pool with six lanes. It is used for everything from high school meets to public recreation. Open year round, this facility is available for rental for everything from swim meets to birthday parties.

Naches Pool

Located approximately 15 miles from downtown Yakima in the Town of Naches, the Naches pool is a 25-yard competition style pool. The facility features 8 lanes of nine-foot depth for competition, as well as a 0-depth entrance area which goes to 3-foot, six-inch depth for recreational swimming. The pool is also home to a local AAU summer team for practices and meets.

A beautiful property, the Yakima Tennis Club is both highly functional and visually appealing. The facility hosts NCAA Division III Championships, Pacific Northwest Sectionals, state high school tournaments and other club events for local members.

The Champion's Court provides great viewing for major matches in tournaments. Most courts offer elevated seating areas for tennis fans.
